I’m not a big fan of the modern airport system. When I was a little kid going to the airport was an event. You could hang out there all day if you wanted to and walk right up to the terminal to meet and greet family and friends as they came off the plane (this was only 20 or so years ago). The airlines used to give little gold pilot wings to those little fliers like me and sometimes even let you check out the cockpit before the plane departed. Well, those times are over.
Get in line, check ID, take off belt (you want my pants too?!??!?!), take off shoes, take laptop out of bag, look at hundreds of other people doing the same and following orders like a bunch of sheep. The fun times at airports are gone and for what reason? Who knows. A lot of you will say 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 but that was eight years ago and it seems like everyone has accepted this new idea of the airport system to be a right of passage.
I used to enjoy flying when I was a little kid now I am tense and paranoid. Not paranoid of other people, paranoid from the overpaid security guard looking at me like I’m trying to smuggle something illegal into a 2 ounce can of hair gel. “Can you turn on your laptop for us sir?” Uhhhhh, sure………. I’m sitting there thinking, “you dumb ass, if there was something explosive on here then why would you want me to open it in front of everyone in the middle of the line?!??!?! Wouldn’t that blow everyone up?!?! Morons…..
Glad that’s over! The thing that I like about Sea-Tac is over the past few years they have remodeled the main entrance area to the terminals with some local restaurants staking claim to give tourists and locals a taste of the local food scene.
What better restaurant to do this than Anthony’s and Ivar’s? They’re both iconic here in Seattle and Anthony’s so it’s a great start for a lot of you people travelling into Seattle to stop at one of these places and eat. I got my start to the morning by having their breakfast burrito and it was amazing.
A little scrambled egg, jack and cheddar cheese, alderwood smoked bacon, toasted tortilla, salsa fresca and fisherman’s potatoes. Ok, I ate something….now I’m not grumpy!!

The 7 dollar french toast is still one of the best airport deals I have ever found for breakfast. Usually airport breakfast is a heat lamped egg-mcmuffin clone for 7 bucks. I find myself following up this breakfast with many, many screwdrivers, and suddenly I don’t mind those TSA chuckleheads quite so much.
Wow, you are right.
